At Holy Trinity we want to ensure that all our children get the best start on their reading journey by developing their knowledge of phonics and allowing them to explore and enjoy a wide range of stories and non-fiction texts. As a school we follow the Success for All phonics scheme which is linked to the Fisher Family Trust (FFT). This scheme spans across Reception and KS1 and provides children will the skills they need to decode and read fluently and independently.<\/p>\n
In EYFS and Key Stage 1 children are taught 4 phonics lessons per week. This can be a whole class or in a small groups. The lesson usually follows a 4-part structure:<\/p>\n
Following a rigorous assessment process, targeted interventions are swiftly put in place for children who are not making the expected progress to ensure they keep up with their peers.<\/p>\n
